My personal understanding is: exceed expectations in as many aspects as possible. In fact, there are very few such models. In an industry where the supply chain is extremely mature and the cost has been compressed to the extreme, there are not many cars that can really achieve super cost performance. However, the Chevrolet Explorer we test-drive today is a light mix of the 550T RS 9AT four-wheel drive intelligent maintenance version, which is definitely one of the best.

Design of parts 1 sharp motion

Explorer 2022 was launched in this year 10. As an annual redesigned model, the appearance has not changed much, but this does not mean that the appearance of this car is outdated. In fact, this brand-new design language came out not long ago, and the whole vehicle also adopted a large number of blackened elements which are very popular at present, creating a good sense of movement. At the same time, the overall shape maintains the momentum of a medium-sized SUV. In fact, the Chevrolet brand itself has the flavor of a national car, and the design of Chevrolet in China auto market will not be too extreme.

Of course, the most conspicuous front face is the central penetrating chrome decoration, and the split headlights on both sides are connected with the net, which greatly expands the visual width. There are some differences in body size between Chevrolet Explorer and non-RS version, mainly the differences in front and rear surrounding shapes. Chevrolet Explorer Light Mix 550T RS 9AT four-wheel drive intelligent maintenance edition has a circumference of 4646* 1843* 1695mm and a wheelbase of 2725mm. Except the height of the car body, other parameters are not too big in a medium-sized SUV, which also confirms our view that Chevrolet's design in China automobile market will not be too extreme, and it will be bigger.

In fact, it can be seen from the side of the car body that Explorer is a relatively standard American medium-sized SUV, which is different from the slender and sharp shape that many medium-sized SUVs like to do now. The explorer's side lines are softer, including the roof lines. There is no sign of slipping, and there is no sporty design such as through waistline. Even the R 19 inch rim is inconspicuous on the side of this car. This may mean that the head space inside this car will have no small advantage.

The design of the rear of the vehicle is more concise. In fact, you can't find any other design elements except LOGO and some logos. Overall, Explorer is a standard American SUV model. At the same time, he is tall and domineering, and has made remarkable progress in detail handling. Many blackened elements, red logos and silver chrome-plated parts are in harmony.

Part 2 Comfortable and easy-to-use interior configuration

In recent years, Chevrolet models prefer the embracing center console, and explorers also adopt the family interior design. Although the simple interior design is popular now, it seems that explorers are a little cumbersome, but that sentence is not so extreme for the main consumers of explorers-they don't care much about whether the border of the console screen is one or two centimeters wide, but they care more about whether this interior can meet their daily needs. The same is true of these physical buttons, including the explorer's central control area, and practicality is best left to them.

However, the materials and feel are convenient, and the explorers are still remarkable. The center console wrapped in a large area of black leather is matched with red double stitching, which is very good in workmanship and excellent in interior texture. The interior of this model we actually shot is black/bright red, but the main color is still black, decorated with red stitching, logo and instrument pointer.

Unfortunately, the explorer is not equipped with a full LCD instrument, but the size of the central control panel is not small. The central control panel of 10 inch is standard, and the floating design is adopted, with a certain upward inclination angle, so it can be operated naturally without lowering its head. The overall display effect is excellent, and the fonts and circular icons are relatively large, which is convenient for the owner to operate.

The explorer vehicle system named MyLink+ supports the development of Carplay and Carlife. At the same time, like the general OnStar and Chevrolet's MyChevy, the functionality is needless to say. We often use navigation, online music, smart home and other functions that are not commonly used.

In addition, during my experience, I found that Explorer is equipped with a very good voice system. As we all know, joint venture brands are often a little behind in this respect, but the overall response speed of the explorer's voice system, including semantic recognition, is relatively fast and accurate. Aside from conventional navigation and listening to songs, functions such as schedule reminder and alarm clock can also be realized.

For many young people, they may not feel much about the interior of the explorer, but for a considerable number of young consumers, the interior of this traditional exquisite leather, blind operation while driving and easy-to-use voice system may be more attractive to them.

Part 3 Absolute Excellent Space Grade

For a medium-sized SUV, space performance is one of the main factors affecting car purchase. Most consumers in this market segment have family or multi-person travel needs. Can you drive comfortably in the front row and ensure that there is enough comfortable space in the back row? At the same time, in this part, we will also show the explorer's storage space and trunk space to see if it can meet the daily car demand.

Followed by storage space, the explorer set up 26 storage compartments in the whole car, including door plate cup slot, central armrest box, cup holder, mobile phone storage compartment and so on. In contrast, the central armrest box is deep and square, and the storage slot of the mobile phone is just the right size, which is convenient to take. Unfortunately, because the electronic file handle was not used, the explorer did not hollow out the lower half of the file handle.

The performance of the trunk space is also excellent. Because the explorers are all five, and they are positioned in medium-sized SUVs, the wheelbase does not occupy the trunk space. Therefore, if it is larger than the conventional CR-V, the rear seats support 4/6 reclining and the trunk is relatively flat. There is a storage layer under the cover plate, and the hooks on both sides are also designed. There is nothing to be picky about in the trunk space.
