What is defensive trade mark?
Legal analysis: Defensive trademark refers to a trademark in which the same trademark owner registers the same famous trademark on different commodities to prevent others from using the famous trademark and causing adverse effects. Defensive trademarks may not be used after registration, and it is generally not easy to be approved for registration.

Legal basis: Article 9 of the Trademark Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) shall apply for registration of a trademark with distinctive features and easy identification, and shall not conflict with the legal rights previously obtained by others. Trademark registrants have the right to indicate "registered trademarks" or registration marks.
