Why is the Starbucks trademark pattern a mermaid?

Starbucks’ earliest trademark was brown, and was created by a young Seattle designer, Terry Heckler, from a 16th-century Scandinavian wood carving of a two-tailed mermaid (Celena in Greek mythology). Shangfa came up with it. The breasts and double fish tail are visible on the label. Mermaids look charming, adventurous and as alluring as coffee.
