Where does the Simei pickles come from?

The Simei pickles come from Yangzhou, Jiangsu.

During the Qing Dynasty, Yangzhou pickles were listed as a royal side dish for the palace, and won the International Exposition Medal and the West Lake Exposition Gold Medal. Before liberation, there were more than 100 soy sauce shops in Yangzhou, most of which were front-end shops and back-end shops. Each family had its own tricks, especially Sanhe and Simei. The "Four Beauties" were borrowed from "Tengwang Pavilion Preface" by a scholar in the early Qing Dynasty. The name is derived from the phrase "four beauties, two are difficult to combine", which means fresh, sweet, crisp and tender. "Sanhe" comes from the owner of the soy sauce garden, which means both color and fragrance are good.

Historically, Sanhe Simei pickles have won the silver medal at the Panama Expo, the gold medal at the West Lake Potato Expo, and the gold medal at the Nanyang Products Exchange Conference. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it won the titles of provincial excellence, provincial famous brand product, ministerial excellence, and national excellence for many times, and won the national silver award. The trademarks "Sanhe" and "Simei" registered by the company are famous trademarks in Jiangsu Province and are now "China's time-honored brands".
