The largest continent on earth is Eurasia and the smallest continent is Australia. There are six continents on earth: Eurasia, Africa, South America, North America, Antarctica and Australia.
Geologically speaking, a continent includes the surrounding continental shelf in addition to the land part of sea level. The average density of the crust on the continental shelf is 2.8 g/cm3, which is quite different from that on the seabed (2.9 g/cm3). The reason for this difference is that the composition and formation process of the two kinds of crust are different.
