Guangdong Four Little Dragons refer to Dongguan, Zhongshan, Nanhai and Shunde. Guangdong Four Little Dragons, also known as Guangdong Four Little Dragons, refer to four small and medium-sized cities with rapid economic development that rose in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong in the1980s, among which Nanhai City and Shunde City have been changed to Nanhai District and Shunde District. The so-called tigers mean that their urban infrastructure and population size are small compared with those of a large special economic zone like Shenzhen, while the actual scale of private and export-oriented industries is not small.

The origin of the name

1987, Wang Zhigang, a reporter from Guangdong Branch of Xinhua News Agency in his early thirties, and his colleagues traveled all over the Pearl River Delta and wrote a report entitled "Four Tigers Leap Forward in Guangdong". Since then, the stunning performances of Dongguan, Zhongshan, Shunde, Nanhai and the "Four Little Tigers" have gradually attracted the attention of people all over China and even overseas.

Although the title of "Four Tigers in Guangdong" was put forward in the report of Xinhua News Agency in198, its influence really expanded after the publication of Enlightenment from the Pearl River Delta written by Wang Zhigang and Tian Bingxin in 199 1.

The real climate of the four tigers in Guangdong is 1986 and 1987, which was in 1989 before the reform and opening up of 1978. This pattern is basically bounded by the Pearl River, and there are two very interesting economic development models on both sides of the Pearl River.
