He came to Shanghai to make a living at the age of 18 and worked as an apprentice at Pan Shunji Hardware and Copper Workshop on Xinzhaqiao Road (now Xinzha Road). In the 5th year of the Republic of China (1916), he entered the Xinghua Hardware Factory on East Broadway Road (now East Daming Road) as a lathe and fitter. The following year, he transferred to Baifulimeida Hardware Factory to work.

In the 8th year of the Republic of China, he founded Deda Shengji Hardware Factory on Wuchang Road in partnership with others, and served as his own manager. Later, the factory was moved to Feilun Road (now Jiulong Road). Soon, it moved to Peng Road (now Tanggu Road), specializing in manufacturing and selling "Eye Brand" Valve (valves), which was the earliest product with a registered trademark in the Chinese valve industry. This factory is the earliest private valve factory in China. At that time, ball valves and gate valves were produced, with diameters ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches. Because of its reliable quality, it sells well all over the country and is exported to Southeast Asia.

In the 12th year of the Republic of China, he opened the Dexing Hardware Branch in Tianjin, and his apprentice Chen Baocai was responsible for the operation and management. Later, another of his apprentices, Chen Zhijin, also opened a valve factory in Nanjing. In the 25th year of the Republic of China, Shanghai Deda Shengji Hardware Factory split its shares and was dissolved. Chen Jiaxing founded Deda Xingji Hardware Factory as a sole proprietor. The factory is still located on Peng Road, and its products continue to use the "Eye Brand" trademark. At that time, there were only five or six employees and two 4.5-foot bicycle lathes. In the 26th year of the Republic of China, he moved the factory to No. 24 Guizhou Road and changed its name to Xingji Hardware Factory. In the 31st year of the Republic of China, the factory location was moved to No. 171, Maktuo Road (now Machang Road), and the original factory name was restored. By the eve of liberation, the factory had developed into a professional valve production factory with more than 20 sets of various machine tools and more than 20 employees. Products include faucet plugs, gate valves, globe valves, fire safety faucets, water injectors, safety valves and 10-inch cast iron gate valves. Chen Jiaxing attaches great importance to the quality and reputation of his products. He personally controls everything from material selection, blank entry to the factory, to each processing step, final inspection, packaging, etc. Therefore, "Eye Brand" valves are unique in the domestic industry and are best-selling in the market. , enduring.

After liberation, he actively participated in the socialist transformation of private industry and commerce. During the public-private partnership in 1956, Deda Hardware Factory merged with 10 other small hardware factories to form Deda Hardware Center Factory, which was later reorganized into Shanghai Low-Pressure Valve Joint Factory (one of the predecessors of the current Shanghai Reduction Machinery Factory). As an ordinary employee, he worked diligently until his retirement in 1965.
