Maixiang's story spans 1980 to 2008, reflecting the earth-shaking changes that have taken place in rural areas of China in the past 28 years of reform and opening up. The film is set in a small town in the south of the Yangtze River like Luoyan Beach.

Brief introduction of Maixiang story:

1980, Yun Kuan retired and returned to his hometown of Luo Yan Beach to work in construction. Yun Kuan's lover, Mai Xiang, was looking forward to marrying Yun Kuan, but their marriage was ruined because of the contradiction between Mai Xiang's father, Mai Huang, and Yun Kuan's father, Yun Wangshan, and the couple parted ways, leaving emotional regrets.

Maixiang finally married Yunkuan Mao and managed it with his mother Liu and his father Mai Huang. After the death of Liu and Mai Huang, Mai Xiang shouldered family responsibilities, sent his brother's wheat harvest and wheat fields to the army, and raised his daughter Jinfeng. ?

Feeling frustrated, Yunkuan married the widow Alian and raised her son Yun Fei. Yun Kuan and Mai Xiang also experienced their own family misfortunes. Mai Xiang's husband died in 1998 in flood relief, Yun Kuan's lover, Alian, died of cancer, and two traumatized people maintained their respective families.

With the support and help of Liu Qiankun, secretary of the village committee, and Liao Yonghui, secretary of the township party committee, Yunkuan and Maixiang played a leading role in the process of rural reform, and experienced a series of changes such as the implementation of the rural land contract responsibility system, the vigorous development of township enterprises, and the establishment of the agro-industrial and commercial complex. Together, they assumed family responsibilities and led the villagers in Luo Yan Beach to get rich and run towards a well-off society.
