Commodity barcodes include retail commodities, non-retail commodities, logistics units, location codes and barcodes. China has adopted the international commodity coding and barcode identification system, popularized and applied commodity barcodes, and established China's commodity identification system.
1. Retail goods refer to goods that are scanned and settled by POS machines at the retail end. Its bar code identification consists of the global trade item number and its corresponding bar code symbol. The barcode identification of retail goods mainly adopts EAN/UPC barcode.
2. Non-retail goods refer to goods that are used for distribution, warehousing or wholesale operation without POS scanning and settlement. Its identification code consists of global trade item number (GTIN) and its corresponding bar code symbol. Bar code symbols of non-retail goods mainly adopt ITF- 14 bar code or UCC/EAN- 128 bar code, and EAN/UPC bar code can also be used.
3. The bar code of logistics unit is a temporary combined package for convenient transportation or storage, which needs to be tracked and managed separately in the supply chain. By scanning the bar code label on each logistics unit, the link between logistics and related information flow can be realized, and the physical movement of each logistics unit can be tracked separately.
4. The code of the logistics unit is identified by the serial number of the cargo packing box (SSCC- 18). A box of 12 skirts and 20 jackets of different colors and sizes, and a tray containing 40 boxes of drinks (each box 12 box) can be regarded as a logistics unit.

The meaning of commodity barcode number (EAN- 13):
Take the barcode 69369838000 13 as an example. The bar code is divided into four parts from left to right:
1-3 digits: * * * 3 digits, corresponding to barcode 693, which is one of the national codes of China (690-695 are all codes of Chinese mainland, which are internationally accepted).
4-8 digits: **5 digits, corresponding to the barcode of 69838, representing the manufacturer's code, which is applied by the manufacturer and allocated by the state.
9- 12 digits: * * * 4 digits, corresponding to barcode 000 1, representing the commodity code in the factory, which is determined by the manufacturer.
13: * * *1,corresponding to 3 of the barcode, is a check code, which is calculated by the previous 12 bits according to a certain algorithm. Formula 13 bit algorithm:
1, take out the sum of odd digits of this number, c1= 6+3+9+3+0 = 21;
2. Take out the sum of even numbers of this number, C2 = 9+6+8+8+0+1= 32;
3. Add the sum of odd numbers to "three times the sum of even numbers".
4. Unit number of the result:117 (117%10 = 7);
5. 10 minus this single digit:10-7 = 3;
6. Take one digit of the obtained number (remove the remainder of 10) 3% 10=3.
