Information about Beijing Olympic Forest Park
The Olympic Forest Park is located at the northernmost part of the extension line of Beijing's central axis. It is the largest urban greening landscape in Asia, covering an area of about 680 hectares. It is a park bigger than Yuanmingyuan and Summer Palace combined. Construction began in 2003 and was officially completed on July 3, 2008. The North Fifth Ring Road runs through the middle of the park, dividing the park into two gardens, north and south, with an ecological bridge across the five rings and full of plants in the middle. The South Garden is dominated by large-scale natural landscapes, while the North Garden is dominated by streams and natural wild forests. It is a well-deserved "green lung" in Beijing. The most famous landscapes in Forest Park are "Yangshan" and "Aohai". As the main peak of the park, "Yangshan" echoes the name of "Jingshan" on the central axis of Beijing City, and coincides with the poem "The mountain rises and the scenery stops" in the Book of Songs, forming the word "admiration", which is very consistent with the meaning of symmetry, balance and harmony in China traditional culture. The main lake of the park is called "Olympic Sea". First, most lakes in traditional place names in Beijing are named after "sea". The second is to borrow the word "Olympics", which has both mystery and mystery, as well as the beauty of the Olympic sea. "Yangshan" and "Olympic Sea" mean "the mountains are high and the water is long", which means that the Olympic spirit will last forever and China's cultural traditions will be carried forward.

"The forest park with distinctive China cultural characteristics will show the world the unique charm of China landscape architecture." Hujie, dean of the Landscape Design Institute of Tsinghua Urban Planning Institute, said that he was responsible for the overall planning and landscape design of the forest park.

The "main mountain and main lake" in the south area of the park is a landmark project of the forest park. The main mountain is filled with 3.98 million cubic meters of earthwork, echoing the Yanshan Mountains, the northwest barrier of Beijing, which not only conforms to the tradition of Chinese garden architecture, but also complements the surrounding environment.

The "Aohai" in the main lake area and the rivers in the scenic spot form the "Dragon" water system of the Olympic Forest Park, and the water surface of 122 hectares exceeds 1/2 Kunming Lake. In this river system, the dragon's body winds through the forest park, with its open mouth facing the Qinghe River and its tail around the National Stadium. In China's mythology and traditional culture, the dragon is the noblest and most sacred totem, which is always combined with water. Such ingenious design coincides with the orientalism and mythological implication in China's traditional culture.
