Willow bark is dark gray-black, bark groove is wide, heartwood is reddish, sapwood is dark white, and annual rings are clear. Wood is fine in structure, soft and nontoxic, smooth after planing, flammable and slightly poor in corrosion resistance.

The width of white wood changes with the growth, and the color is light beige. Its heartwood color is just the opposite, from reddish brown to brownish gray. The texture of willow is fine and even, although it is usually straight, sometimes it has oblique wood grain or circular texture. Folk use willow to make furniture.

Willow can be used to make wooden box furniture. In Ming and Qing dynasties, there was a saying that willow was used in the north and camphor was used in the south. In other words, willow trees have good elasticity, and willow trees in the north are similar to camphor trees in the south.

There is also the saying "bamboo in the south and willow in the north", which means that bamboo is bent into reclining chairs and small stools in the south, while willow is bent into bamboo in the north. It can be seen that willow furniture has been widely used in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
