1. Pre-application preparation stage

Prepare Korean trademark application materials, the specific information is as follows:

Applicant name and address information in Chinese and English. (If the applicant is a legal person, a copy of the business license with official seal must be provided; if the applicant is a natural person, a copy of the ID card and individual business license must be provided)

Trademark text/image, application category, product/ Service name (it is recommended that the trademark text/image be searched by a professional agency first to avoid being rejected later due to identical/similar trademarks)

Scanned copy of the power of attorney (if the applicant is a legal person, the signature of the legal representative is required And stamped with the official seal; signed by the applicant if the applicant is a natural person).

2. Application submission stage

After submitting the application, the official will conduct a formal review of the application documents. If the application documents are in compliance with the regulations, the official will issue a submission receipt within 2-3 days. The applicant can use the TM mark after getting the application number (the application number will be included in the submission receipt).

3. Examination stage

In this stage, the examiner will focus on examining whether the trademark is registrable. If it is not registrable, the official will issue a rejection notice. Applicants are required to respond to the rejection notice within the officially specified time.

4. Announcement and authorization stage

Trademarks that pass the review will be announced for a period of 3 months. Anyone can raise objections during the announcement period, and the applicant needs to respond to the objections. Trademarks that have no objections during the announcement period or are found to be registrable after objections will be authorized.

The time required for a Korean trademark application from application to authorization is approximately 6 months.

The validity period of a Korean trademark is 10 years. If you need to continue to use it after the expiration, you must apply for renewal within 6 months before the expiration.
