Beijing Ruifuxiang Silk and Cloth Store was founded in 1893 (the 19th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty). It was funded and opened by the Meng family who started out selling "Zhaizi cloth" (homespun cloth) in Jiujun Town, Zhangqiu, Shandong.
