Wenzhou, a prefecture-level city in Zhejiang Province and one of the 27 cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta, is an important commercial city and regional central city in the southeast coast of China approved by the State Council.
Wenzhou is located in the east of China, southeast of Zhejiang, and on the south bank of the lower reaches of Oujiang River. It is the cradle of mathematicians in China, the hometown of South Opera in China, the hometown of seafood and eggs in China and the shoe capital in China. Wenzhou people are called Oriental Jews by China people.
Wenzhou is located in the southeast of Zhejiang Province, bordering the East China Sea in the east, Fuding, Zherong and Shouning counties in Ningde area of Fujian Province in the south, Jinyun, Qingtian and Jingning She Autonomous Counties in Lishui area in the west, and Xianju, Huangyan, Wenling and Yuhuan counties in Taizhou area in the north and northeast.
Wenzhou is a national historical and cultural city, known as the "southeast landscape is the best in the world" reputation. Wenzhou used to be Ou Di, also known as Dongou. Founded in 323 AD, it was named Yongjia County. According to legend, when the county was built, there were white deer holding flowers around the city, hence the name Lucheng.
Wenzhou belongs to subtropical monsoon climate zone, with obvious alternation of winter and summer monsoon, moderate temperature, four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall.
