This summer vacation, I read Hemingway's novel The Old Man and the Sea. I admire the will of the old fisherman in the novel. He taught me that one must have perseverance to succeed.
This novel describes an old fisherman who is nearly sixty years old. He went fishing alone and caught a big fish, which he couldn't pull up. After several days of fighting with the fish, the old fisherman found that it was a marlin several times larger than his fishing boat. Although he knew it was difficult to win, he still didn't give up. Later, because of the fishy smell on the marlin wound, several sharks scrambled for food, but the old man still didn't want to give up like this, and finally broke through and brought the big fish back to the fishing port, which made other fishermen admire him.
When I read "The old fisherman thought: It's too close to the coast, maybe there will be bigger fish farther away …", I admired the old fisherman because he had caught some fish at this time, but he was not satisfied with the status quo, but moved towards a bigger goal. Look at us again. We all complained bitterly when we encountered a little difficulty. We are the future of the motherland, and we should be as ambitious as this old man and pursue better and greater goals.
When I read that "the big marlin began to swim quickly around the small fishing boat, winding the cable around the mast, the old man held the steel fork in his right hand, and at the moment when it jumped out of the water, he threw it at its heart with all his strength, ending the life of the big fish with a moan, and it floated quietly on the water …", my heart also fell like a big stone. I admire the old man's dauntless and persistent spirit. Although he knew his opponent was strong, he didn't flinch at all, but rose to meet the challenge. It is because of this spirit that the old fisherman won the battle of life and death. We should also learn from the old fisherman's spirit in our life. Only if we are not afraid of difficulties can we succeed.
After reading that the fishy smell of big fish was smelled by a group of sharks, they scrambled to swim for food. The old man had a cramp in his left hand, so he had to defend himself with his right hand, using wooden sticks, the mouth of the caught swordfish and other weapons that could be used to attack, and finally drove the shark away. But the big fish has eaten more than half of the meat, and when the old man humorously criticized his left hand for "resting when it is time to work", I was also impressed by the optimism of the old man. In life, some losses are inevitable, so be optimistic and don't haggle over every ounce.
Finally, taking a teenager as an example, the novel saw an old fisherman measuring a 18-foot-long marlin, and described this huge fish again, which showed that the old fisherman overcame great difficulties and was unusual.
This novel eulogizes the old fisherman's spirit of hard work despite difficulties. Like him, he is not satisfied with the status quo, positive, persevering in everything, and never gives up halfway when encountering difficulties. Only in this way can we achieve greater success and victory.
Notes on Two Wan Li under the Sea
The author's surprise lies not only in his exaggerated, touching and scientific novels, but also in the stories he wrote in the book. Although this is not surprising today in the 2 1 century, in Verne's era, people have not invented submarines that can swim underwater, and even electric lights have not appeared. In this context, Verne successfully shaped the submarine Nautilus in Two Wan Li under the Sea, and 25 years after the novel was published. The artificial real submarine is similar to that described in the novel. What kind of foresight is this? Therefore, the fantasy in Verne's works has scientific basis. The scientific fantasy depicted in many of his works has come true today. More importantly, the fantasy in his works is bold and novel, and it is interesting to read with its vivid, vivid and picturesque beauty. His works have thrilling plots, vivid characters and unexpected endings. All these make his works have eternal charm.
Written in 1870, Two Wan Li under the Sea is the second part of Verne's famous trilogy. The first part is Captain Grant's children, and the third part is Mystery Island. This work tells the story of Pierre Aronnax, a French biologist, traveling in the depths of the ocean. This happened in 1866, and a monster thought to be a narwhal was found at sea. He accepted the invitation to join the chase, unfortunately fell into the water during the chase and swam on the monster's back. In fact, this monster is not a narwhal, but a diving boat with wonderful structure. This diving boat was secretly built by Captain Nemo on a desert island in the middle of the ocean. It has a solid hull and uses the ocean to generate electricity. Captain Nemo invited Pierre Aronnax to travel to the bottom of the sea. They set out from the Pacific Ocean, passed through coral islands, the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, and entered the Atlantic Ocean. They saw many rare marine animals and plants and strange scenes in the water, and experienced many dangers such as stranding, being besieged by indigenous people, fighting with sharks, icebergs blocking roads, octopus attacks and so on. Finally, when the diving boat arrived at the Norwegian coast, Pierre Aronnax left without saying goodbye and announced to the world what he knew about the seabed. Captain Nemo, the hero of the book, is a romantic, mysterious and charming figure. Nemo built a diving boat according to his own design, snorkeling on the seabed for large-scale scientific research, but it seems that this is not the only purpose of his lonely life. He avoided enemies and persecutors, sought freedom at the bottom of the sea, and felt deep sorrow for his lonely life. It was not until the third part of the trilogy that the mystery of this mysterious figure was unveiled. This collection contains all the features of Verne's science fiction. The twists and turns, the tense and confusing storyline, the ever-changing fate of the characters, the rich and detailed scientific knowledge, and the wonderful fantasy with vivid details are all a furnace. The author's originality and ingenious layout sometimes push readers into a dangerous environment, and sometimes bring them into a beautiful realm full of poetry and painting. Magnificent scene description and detailed detail description appear alternately. It's fascinating to read, and you can't stop.
In this way, with reverence, I began to take the Nautilus submarine with Junasz, the protagonist of the book, and began his legendary underwater journey. Captain Nemo, the owner of the Nautilus, was a gloomy and learned man. They traveled together in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Antarctic and Arctic Ocean, and saw many rare underwater animals and plants, as well as underwater caves, secret passages and sites, including the famous sunken city Atlantis, an ancient civilization with a history and culture comparable to that of Greece. Nautilus set out from the Sea of Japan, entered the Pacific Ocean, Oceania, and then reached the Indian Ocean, passing through the Red Sea and Arabian Tunnel, and reached the Mediterranean Sea. The submarine crossed the Strait of Gibraltar, along the coast of Africa, and headed for the South Pole. Then go north along the coast of Latin America, follow the warm current to the North Sea, and finally disappear into the whirlpool on the west coast of Norway. During the submarine journey of nearly ten months, Nautilus sailed slowly at an average speed of 12 km per hour. I feel that I enjoyed the ever-changing wonders of the seabed with Captain Nemo and his "guests". The climax of the whole voyage is repeated: underwater hunting, underwater forest visit, underwater Atlantis ruins visit, Spanish shipwreck treasure salvage, coral kingdom funeral witness, fighting with Okumo, sharks and octopus, fighting back against the siege of indigenous people and so on. These books contain a great deal of knowledge about science, culture, geography and geology. O Junasz expressed admiration for Captain Nemo's outstanding talent and knowledge in the voyage. However, in the fascinating story, people are also warned that while seeing that science and technology benefit mankind, they should pay attention to preventing acts that are used by bad people and endanger the human crisis; Put forward the concept of caring for marine life such as seals and whales and condemning indiscriminate killing and fishing. These environmental protection topics, which are still popular today, have been called for by prophets 200 years ago. It can be seen that what leaves a deeper reflection on human justice is to let readers feel colorful adventures and vivid knowledge, and to inspire us to get more books from our hearts.
Jane Eyre's Reading Notes
It took me more than three days to finish reading Jane Eyre. I know this is a very difficult process. These days, I spent almost all my time on this novel from a distant country except eating and sleeping. However, while complaining, we have to admit that it is outstanding and charming. It is rare to see such a charming exotic style. This story, full of19th century British interest, made me feel a lot. Actually, I should have contacted this book earlier. Many people have already introduced it. Unfortunately, I'm a little xenophobic, and I haven't started to appreciate it until now. It's kind of like a brief encounter.
As a foreigner, I find it a little difficult to adapt to the British thinking and religious beliefs. However, most of the true feelings in the world are interlinked. Every time I read that Jane Eyre was abused and discriminated against because she had no relatives and no reason, her pity was unforgettable. How excited I was when Jane Eyre saved the day again and again; How inspiring and shocking it was when she bravely refused St. John's proposal and insisted on the true love in her heart; Especially at the end of the article, when she abandoned everything to take care of poor Edward, my heart was gratified and moved by the birth.
As for this novel, I think its greatest success lies in its outstanding integration in many artistic aspects. I am sure that the author of this book is a versatile writer. First of all, when she describes the scenery, she appreciates it from the aesthetic angle of a painter and grasps the harmony of light and shadow with the interest of a painter. When reading China's novels, it's rare to see such delicate landscape descriptions. We would like to thank Zhou Lingben, the translator of this book. His profound knowledge of Chinese has made the translation brilliant and the original brilliant. Secondly, Charlotte Brontexq has profound attainments in linguistics. As an Englishman, the author can say that he is proficient in at least three foreign languages. When reading this book, I feel that I can feel the cultural atmosphere of Europe through it. For example, the pride and gentlemanliness of the British, the great power of Germany, and the natural romantic interest of French women. Even read the British colonial psychology of discriminating against orientals, for example, they called India a barbaric nation. Third, Charlotte Brontexq's handling of emotional drama is brilliant. The protagonists in her novels rarely fall in love at first sight, which is more realistic, but the love she gives always goes deep into the readers' hearts silently. Such a clever emotional drama surprised me and surprised me.
