Zhenjiang is located in eastern China and southern Jiangsu. It is a member city of Nanjing metropolitan area and an important part of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration. It is an important transportation hub in East China, connecting Nanjing in the west, Changzhou in the south and Yangzhou in the north. Changzhou Niu Ben International Airport is located at the junction of Danyang City and Xinbei District of Changzhou City. In addition, beijing-shanghai railway, Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway, Shanghai-Chengdu expressway, Liyang expressway, 3 12 national highway and 104 national highway can all reach major cities in China. It is the only intersection of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and Zhenjiang Port, the third largest port in the Yangtze River basin, is open to the sea.
Zhenjiang is a famous historical and cultural city. It was called Zhu Fang in the Spring and Autumn Period, Guyang in the Warring States Period, Dantu in the Qin Dynasty, Jingkou in the Three Kingdoms Period, Jingkou South Xuzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty, and Runzhou after the reunification of the Sui Dynasty. Zhenjiang's name has been the capital of Jiangsu Province since the Northern Song Dynasty.
