Lao trademark registration is based on the principle of prior application. Lao trademark protects commodity trademarks, service trademarks and collective trademarks, and adopts Nice Agreement as the classification of goods and services for registration. Laos is a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Validity period of Laos trademark: 1 years from the date of application. If it is necessary to continue to use the trademark after the expiration of the registration period, it should apply for renewal of registration six months before the expiration of the registration period, and each renewal of registration is valid for 1 years.
