How to check trademark category?

When querying the categories of trademarks, if you select the wrong category, the results of the query will definitely be inaccurate and cause losses to the company. Therefore, a registered trademark classification inquiry is something that must be done before registering a trademark. During the search process for registered trademark categories, in addition to determining the registered category based on the goods or services operated, it is also necessary to check whether there are identical or similar trademarks under the category to avoid trademark duplication and rejection.

A trademark is a sign that distinguishes the source of goods or services. Each registered trademark is designated for use on a certain product or service. Trademark registration is divided into 45 major categories. The first 1-34 categories are commodity categories, and the last 35-45 categories are service categories. There are group classification details below the major categories, which are commonly referred to as small categories. Subcategories contain many specific goods or services. According to the goods or services operated, first determine the major category it belongs to. After determining the major category, you can select 10 specific goods or services in the same major category. If you exceed 10 goods or services, you will need to pay extra.

The principle of registration of domestic trademarks in China is that a trademark registered in a class is counted as one trademark, and one application form must be submitted, that is, one form per class. If a trademark is registered in two categories, it means two trademarks, and two registration applications must be submitted, and so on. A trademark can select 10 products in a category. If there are more than 10 products, for each additional product, the Trademark Office will charge an additional item fee.
