The reporter learned from the Municipal Industry and Commerce Bureau yesterday that the State Trademark Office has officially approved the registration of "Chengkou Lao Bacon" as a geographical indication trademark. This is the first geographical indication trademark registered as a collective trademark in our city.

Chengkou Lao Bacon enjoys a high reputation inside and outside the city, and its products are also exported to Russia and other countries. Currently, there are more than 40,000 employees in the county, with an annual output of tens of thousands of tons. From now on, any old bacon products that are not produced by members of the Chengkou County Old Bacon Association will no longer be able to use the "Chengkou Old Bacon" geographical indication trademark.

Purpose of applying for geographical indication

In recent years, the proportion of Chengkou Lao bacon in the market ranks first in the country's bacon products. Many non-Chengkou manufacturers are counterfeiting the Chengkou Lao Bacon brand, causing Chengkou Lao Bacon’s market share to decline and greatly reducing the Chengkou Lao Bacon brand. Later, the Chengkou People's Government applied for a geographical indication of Chengkou Lao Bacon Pork with the National Trademark Office to effectively protect this green food.
