Sapphire launches Z77 motherboard: April 11, 2012.
Sapphire Technology, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of graphics cards, motherboards and multimedia solutions has just announced the development of a new motherboard to support the latest CPUs from the Intel family.
Sapphire's Pure Platinum Z77/K is a complete ATX sized board that supports the latest generation Intel i7/i5/i3 processors for home use on the LGA1155 socket. It includes full implementation of chipset features including multiple PCI-Express 3.0 Gen 3 USB 3.0 and SATA 6G and extensive I/O support. Four dual-channel memory slots are provided, supporting up to 16GB of DDR3 memory with existing technology (maximum 32GB when suitable modules become available).
The board has 4 SATA2 3Gb/s ports, and 2 SATA3 6Gb/s ports, AHCI and RAID support, and easy installation on the board edge with right-angle connectors. Advanced connectivity offers one Realtek Gigabit LAN and an optional second Killer E2200 Gigabit LAN. There are 4 USB 3.0 ports (two on the rear and two high-quality front panel kit supports a header), and 10 USB 2.0 ports (4) on the back panel. The rear panel also comes with optical SPDIF as well as standard I/O configuration for on-board HD 7.1 audio. On-chip Intel HD graphics output DVI, HDMI and VGA.
Four PCI-Express X16 slots on Generation 3.0 allow up to four graphics cards to be used in CrossFire with extensive expansion support. It also has two PCI-Express X1 slots. A standard 4-pin Molex board edge connector can be used to provide additional power when using multiple cards.
Many user-friendly features have been incorporated into the Pure Platinum Sapphire Z77/K, such as a debug digital display and push-button reset BIOS, as well as boot and system reset buttons. These are especially useful for enthusiasts interested in performance tuning or overclocking. Dual BIOS is provided allowing experimentation and updates. This board features Sapphire QBIOS, an easy-to-use UEFI BIOS with many overclocking features and allows the user to update the BIOS and backup the BIOS - there is no need to boot from an external disk including S_BIOS. For hardcore gamers, voltage test pads have been brought out on the edge of the board for critical voltages for the CPU and memory.
The construction quality of Sapphire's pure platinum Z77/K is high. It has a black multi-layer printed circuit board with high quality gold plated connectors for USB 3.0 and LAN. It integrates many features associated with the Sapphire brand, such as the use of high-reliability solid-state capacitors throughout the high-end. Multi-phase PWM regulator circuits for CPU and memory modules integrated with Sapphire's high-end graphics cards feature sapphire diamond black chokes on the heat sink. The low-profile cooler PWM section gives users a wide choice of CPU coolers without the risk of clogging.
Hardware monitoring tools and Sapphire's proprietary motherboard TRIXX software allow users to review and adjust ranges of system parameters while optimizing CPU performance.
