A brief history of Coca-Cola In 1885, Dr. John S. Pemberton, a doctor from Georgetown, USA, mixed carbonated water and soda water together in the cellar to form a dark syrup. His partner Frank M. Robinson inspired the name from the two ingredients of the syrup, and Coca-Cola, the most successful soft drink in history, was born. 1886〈5.08〉Coca-Cola was first sold in a pharmacy in Atlanta. 1888〈4.14〉Pemberton quietly sold one-third of his shares to Asa Candler. 1888〈8.16〉Pemberton passed away. 1888〈8.30〉Coca-Cola's equity was transferred to the wealthy Asa Candler. These two ingredients are the leaves of Coca and the fruit of Kola. In order to straighten it out, Robinson changed Kola's K to C, and then added a horizontal stroke between the two words, and Coca-Cola was born.
