Where are guava mainly distributed in China?
Guava, alias Paizi, Guiaguo and Fanren, is a tropical evergreen woody fruit tree of the genus Guava in Myrtaceae. Native to America, Mexico and Peru, it is suitable for cultivation in tropical and south subtropical regions and widely distributed in tropical regions. In Asia, India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam have larger planting areas. Guava has been introduced into China for at least 300 years. Before 1990s, it was rarely used as a commercial cultivation in Chinese mainland. With the introduction and popularization of new century guava, pearl guava and crystal guava in Taiwan Province Province, their commercial cultivation has developed rapidly, mainly distributed in Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, southern Yunnan, southern Sichuan and southern Zhejiang. From a national perspective, guava is still a small fruit, but in some places in southern China, such as Chaozhou City and Shantou City, Guangdong Province, guava has become a local staple fruit.
