In 1912, Hayakawa Tokuji founded the metal processing industry in Tokyo as a private enterprise. In June 1936, it was renamed Hayakawa Metal Industry Co., Ltd., and in May 1942, it was renamed Hayakawa Electric Industry Co., Ltd. In May 1949, the company's shares were listed for the first time on the Osaka Stock Exchange.

In 1953, it cooperated with American companies, imported parts and components, took the lead in producing TV sets in Japan, and achieved mass production. In 1961, the company's central research institute was established and officially began to engage in electronic technology research. The following year, Japan's first electronic microwave oven was successfully developed and subsequently entered mass production.
