The organizational history of Jinju:
Jinju City has a history of more than 2,500 years with testable writing. In the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Qin Dynasty established Julu County as the county administration, and the Yuan Dynasty established the Jinzhou Prefecture administration.
In the Spring and Autumn Period, the Gu State was established, and the Viscount belonged to the Jin State, with the capital Guju (today's Shilipu Village).
The Warring States Period belonged to the Zhongshan State and the Zhao State, with the cities of Xiaquyang (today's Gucheng Village) and Xiyang (today's Shilipu Village).
In the second year of the Western Han Dynasty (AD 2), three counties were established in the city: Xiaquyang, Linping, and Anxiang. Xiaquyang County governs today's Gucheng Village, which was governed by Duwei; Linping County governs today's Guchengzhai Village; Anxiang County governs today's Houcheng Village. All three counties belong to Julu County.
In the fourth year of Jianwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 28), two counties, Linping and Anxiang, were transferred to Quyang County.
During the Northern Dynasties and the Northern Wei Dynasty, Quyang County was renamed Quyang County and belonged to Julu County in Dingzhou; the administration of Julu County was moved from Yingtao (southwest of today's Ningjin County) to Quyang County (today's Gucheng Village of Jinzhou City). At that time, Julu County governed three counties: Quyang, Gaocheng (southwest of today's Gaocheng City), and Xiao (southeast of today's Xinji City).
In the Northern Qi Dynasty, Quyang County of the province entered Gaocheng County (today's Gaocheng City) and belonged to Julu County, which governed the original Quyang County.
In the 16th year of Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (596 AD), Xiyang County was separated from Gaocheng County. The county seat was 2.5 kilometers east of the original site of Quyang County, which is now Jinzhou City; in the 18th year of Kaihuang's reign, Xiyang County was established. (A.D. 598) Xiyang County was renamed Gucheng County, both belonging to Dingzhou.
At the beginning of the Duan Gong period of the Song Dynasty (988 AD), Gucheng was transferred to Qizhou.
In the sixth year of Song Xining (AD 1072), Shenze County was established as a town and entered Gucheng.
In the eighth year of Jiading in the Song Dynasty and the tenth year of Mongolian Genghis Khan (AD 1215), Jinzhou was established in Gucheng County, with jurisdiction over Gucheng County. In the second year of Jiaxi of the Song Dynasty and the tenth year of Mongolian Wokuotai (1238 AD), Jinzhou was evacuated, and military and civilian mansions were established in Gucheng and other places to govern Gucheng County, which governed Gucheng, Anping, Raoyang and Wuqiang counties. In June of the second year of Jingding in the Song Dynasty and the second year of the Central Unification of Mongolia by Kublai Khan (AD 1261), Jinzhou was reestablished in Gucheng County, and the county under its jurisdiction remained unchanged.
In the second year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1369 AD), Gucheng of the province entered Jinzhou with all its strength. Jinzhou governs Anping, Raoyang and Wuqiang counties.
In the second year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1724), Jinzhou was promoted to Zhili Prefecture, with jurisdiction over two counties: Wuji and Gaocheng; the three counties formerly under its jurisdiction, Anping and Pingping, belonged to Shenzhou. In the twelfth year of Yongzheng (AD 1734), Jinzhou was changed to Sanzhou, which belonged to Zhengding Prefecture and did not govern counties. The original jurisdiction of Wuji and Gaocheng was returned to Zhengding Prefecture.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Jinzhou was renamed Jinxian.
After Jin County was withdrawn and established as Jinzhou City in 1991, it came under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang City and became a county-level city under Shijiazhuang.
