In 1952, the government acquired and confiscated three distilleries in Maotai Town (Ronghe Shaofang, Chengyu Shaofang and Hengxing Shaofang). The state-owned Kweichow Moutai Distillery was established. After the reform and opening up in 1978, the descendants of the three wineries opened private wineries respectively. Due to the complex branches and collaterals of descendants, the battles over trademarks and brands among the three major ancestral brands are also extremely fierce. In addition, some fake speculators are fishing in troubled waters, leaving people confused and ignorant of the inside and truth.
The three major brewing workshops in history all produced Moutai. In order to distinguish the products of different workshops, people used to name them after the surname of the workshop owner:
Ronghe’s surname King, he called his wine Wangmao.
The boss Chengyu’s surname is Hua, so he calls his wine Huamao.
The boss of Hengxing’s surname is Lai, so he calls his wine Lai Mao.
Among the three distilleries, only Ronghe’s Wangmao and Chengyu’s Huamao won the gold medal at the Panama World Expo in 1915 under the name of “Maotai Distillery Company”.
Now, Wang Mao’s descendants have successfully registered the trademarks “Ronghe” and “Ronghe Shaofang”. After nearly thirty years of legal battle with the state-owned Maotai Distillery, in 2009 the State Administration for Industry and Commerce officially determined that the trademarks "Ronghe" and "Ronghe Shaofang" belong to Ronghe Liquor Co., Ltd., Maotai Town, Renhuai City, Guizhou Province ( Chen Yunqiang, outside the Wang family, founded Fuqiang Winery in 1982, which was later renamed Ronghe Winery). At the same time, the trademark "Rongtaihe Wang Family" was approved to belong to Guizhou Rongtaihe Winery Co., Ltd. (who claimed to be a descendant of the Wang family in 2000 Founded in 2008), the "Rongtaihe" trademark has not been successfully registered so far. The descendants of Wang Lifu, one of Wangmao's shareholders (who had withdrawn from Ronghe Wangmao before the merger), also produced brand wines such as "Wang Tianhe Wang Lifu" and "Wang Lifu Shaofang", but none of them were related to "Wang Lifu" The trademark registration was successful.
The descendants of Huamao are not very conspicuous. Some companies have produced wines like "Hua Lianhui" (the founder of Huamao) and "Chengyi Shaofang", but so far none of them is as good as "Huamao". ", "Chengyu", "Chengyi" or "Hualianhui" related trademarks have been successfully registered, and these companies basically have little to do with the descendants of Fahrenheit.
There are many descendants of Laimao and they are very lively. They all set up factories to make wine. Due to the mutual competition for the status of direct inheritance, the "Laimao" brand wine has become famous far and wide, but so far no trademark related to "Laimao" has been successfully registered. As a result, both large and small wineries in Guizhou are producing Laimao, and the quality is uneven. , illegal speculation is mixed in, and development is also a problem.
There are hundreds of brewing companies in Maotai Town, and more than 100 have industrial and commercial registration. Only Wangmao, Huamao and Laimao are truly related to Maotai's ancestors. Nowadays, the one with the loudest reputation but uneven quality is Lai Mao; the one with less fame but down-to-earth quality and good quality is Wang Mao, namely "Ronghe" (Maotai Town Ronghe Liquor Industry), "Rongtaihe Wang Family" (Maotai Town) Zhenrong Taihe Liquor Industry) two enterprises. Huamao has a cluttered list of brands and is not famous. Analyzing the brewing companies in Maotai Town, among the three major wine brands, only the Wangmao brand has a promising future. At present, Maotai Town Ronghe Liquor Co., Ltd. (Fuqiang Distillery) has successfully registered more than a dozen trademarks related to "Ronghe" and is expanding its factory. The output is expected to reach 3,000 tons, which is one-tenth of the output of state-owned Moutai. . The quality of the wine produced by this factory is excellent, especially the quality of the "Ronghe" series wine is not inferior to that of Moutai, and it has a good foundation for development.
The largest brewing company in Maotai Town is the state-owned Maotai Co., Ltd., followed by Guizhou Guotai Liquor Co., Ltd. Guotai has nothing to do with Wangmao, Huamao, Laimao and state-owned Moutai, but it has large investment, large-scale enterprises and better quality. Whether Wangmao, Huamao and Laimao passed down from our ancestors can be carried forward and compete with or comparable to Maotai and Guotai remains to be seen.
