1. Formal examination: After receiving the application, the French Patent and Trademark Office will conduct a formal examination of the applied trademark. The examination content includes the legality of the application documents, trademark drawings, power of attorney and other documents. If the review is passed, the application date and application number will be awarded;
2. Substantive review: France implements a double review. After the formal review, it also needs to go through a substantive review. The content of the substantive examination includes whether the trademark is identical or similar, whether it violates the provisions of the relevant trademark law, etc. If the review fails, the review officer will notify the applicant in writing and inform the applicant of the reasons. The applicant can submit a review within the specified time, otherwise the application will be deemed abandoned and the application date and application number will not be retained.
