Historical evolution of northern Anhui
Historically, the banks of the Yangtze River under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province belonged to different administrative regions before the Ming Dynasty.

In Song Dynasty, northern Anhui belonged to Huainan East Road and southern Anhui belonged to Jiangnan East Road.

In Yuan Dynasty, northern Anhui belonged to Jiangbei Province of Henan Province, and southern Anhui belonged to Jiankang Road in Jiangdong.

In the Ming Dynasty, they were placed together under Nanzhili.

In the 18th year of Qing Shunzhi, jiangnan province was divided into Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province.

In the ninth year of Kangxi (1670), Lufeng Road was established, and it was stationed in Fengyang House (now Fengyang County, Anhui Province), leading Luzhou House and Fengyang House.

In the second year of Yongzheng (1724), Yingzhou, Bozhou, Sizhou and Lu 'an were added; In the 12th year of Yongzheng (1734), Chuzhou and Hezhou were added; In the 13th year of Yongzheng (1735), Bozhou was reduced to a scattered state; In the fifth year of Xianfeng (1855), Anqing was a member of the government.

In the fourth year of Tongzhi (1865), Anqing, Luzhou, Chuzhou and Hezhou belonged to different places and were renamed Si Liu Road, Feng Ying.

In the thirty-fourth year of Guangxu (1908), Luzhou, Chuzhou and Hezhou belonged to it, renamed Wanbei Road, and governed Fengyang, Luzhou, Yingzhou, Chuzhou, Hezhou, Sizhou and Lu 'an. Daoyin is stationed in Fengyang House. Anqing House: Huaining County (the first county), Tongcheng County, Qianshan County, Taihu County, susong county County and Wangjiang County. Fengyang House: governs five counties, namely Fengyang, Huaiyuan, Dingyuan, Fengtai and Lingbi, and Suzhou and Shouzhou. Luzhou prefecture: Hefei, Shucheng, Chaoxian and Lujiang counties, and Wuwei prefecture is a scattered prefecture. Yingzhou: Fuyang, Yingshang, Huoqiu, Yang Guo, Taihe and Mengcheng, and Bozhou is a scattered state. Chuzhou: governs Quanjiao Lai 'an County. And state: hanshan county. Sizhou: Wuhe, Tianchang and Xuyi counties. Lu 'an area: Yingshan and Huoshan counties.

In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), the highway in northern Anhui was abandoned.

In the third year of the Republic of China (19 14), Anqing Road was set up, belonging to Anhui Province, and governed Huaining County (Old Anqing House), Tongcheng, Susong, Taijian, Buried Hill, Wangjiang, Hefei (Old Luzhou House), Lujiang, Shucheng, Chaohu and Wuwei (Old Luzhou House).

1949, 19 On April 5th, Wanbei Administrative Region was established (at the provincial level) and was stationed in Hefei. It includes the liberated areas north of the Yangtze River in Anhui Province. In the same year, after the liberation of southern Anhui in the Battle of Crossing the River, the Southern Anhui Administrative Office moved to Hefei, and the Southern Anhui Administrative Office and the Northern Anhui Administrative Office jointly worked in Hefei.

1On August 7th, 952, the northern Anhui Administrative Region and the southern Anhui Administrative Region merged to form the Anhui Provincial Government.

At the end of 1952, Anhui province had five special cities, seven special zones, 67 counties, three county-level cities and 17 municipal districts.
