2. Formal review: after submitting the application, review the legality of the submitted application documents, power of attorney, trademark patterns and other documents; Applications that meet the legal requirements will be awarded the application number and date;
3. substantive examination: according to the legal requirements, examine whether the trademark is the same as or similar to the previously registered trademark, whether it can be registered, and whether it violates the prohibition clause of the Trademark Law. For trademarks that fail the substantive examination, the examiner will notify the applicant in writing and inform the other party of the reasons for rejection. The applicant may make a request for reexamination within the time limit from the date of receiving the notice of rejection, otherwise the application will be deemed as abandonment, and the application number and date will not be retained. The applicant can apply for an extension on the condition of paying the extension fee. Trademark examiners can conditionally accept certain applications for trademark registration, and may require the applicant to give up the right to use a certain graphic or text in the trademark;
4. Announcement: After the trademark has passed the substantive examination, notify the applicant that the trademark application has been accepted and publish it in the Trademark Announcement. Any third party can raise objections within the three-month announcement period (the time limit for raising objections can be extended by three months), state the reasons for objections and submit relevant evidence;
5. Approval of registration: after objection, a trademark that is approved for registration is ruled, or a trademark that is announced without objection by a third party is approved for registration, and a registration certificate is issued. The whole successful application process (if there is no rejection or objection) will take about 12- 18 months.
