Perhaps in our domestic camp, I find this statement unconvincing. After all, our automobile industry started late. But as a self-media person who loves cars and internal combustion engines since childhood, I have always recognized this view. For example, the protagonist we are going to talk about today, Jaguar F-TYPE is a good example.
At the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, the Jaguar booth was not as high as BBA, Volvo, Cadillac and other luxury brands in terms of sales volume and brand attention, so in contrast, the Jaguar booth at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show will inevitably appear somewhat deserted.
But friends who have seen the Jaguar booth should find that there is a car that is out of date in the conspicuous position of its exhibition hall. This car is Jaguar XK 120.
When it comes to Jaguar XK 120, friends who don't pay attention to Jaguar brand may not be clear. In fact, the Jaguar XK 120 mass-produced in 1948 achieved quite brilliant results that year. For example, at that time, this car was the fastest mass production car in the world, and it was also the first car equipped with a 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder DOHC double overhead camshaft engine in Jaguar brand history. Including its successor, Le Mans 24-Hour Rally Champion Type C, and 1955- 1957 three-time champion Type D, all created brilliant history for Jaguar in automobile racing.
Seventy-five years after the mass production of Jaguar XK 1948, that is, today in 2023, this car is still "on the road", but it is replaced by a new successor, Jaguar F-TYPE, and continues to run. Perhaps coincidentally, this year, Jaguar F-TYPE just celebrated its 75th anniversary. We also saw this 75th anniversary F-Type with distinctive color scheme at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.
But this time, the word "collector's edition" was added to the name of the commemorative section.
I want to share a cold knowledge with you. When a collector's edition is released, it generally means that the sales cycle of the current model of this car has ended. For example, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the late W222 and the Audi A8L in the late D4 both launched collector's editions.
For Jaguar F-TYPE's 2024 P300 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition convertible/hardtop edition, Bian Xiao can only say, buy and cherish.
It's not that the F-TYPE will stop production, but that when Jaguar's new F-TYPE comes back, there will be no pure internal combustion engine version. At that time, the new F-TYPE will be dominated by motors, either the pure electric version or the auxiliary plug-in version of the engine.
Back to the product level of the current model, the Jaguar F-Type 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition has a brand-new Giola green painting, so you don't have to worry about the feeling of elegance, advanced and gentlemanly, because these adjectives have never been broken in the Jaguar family, especially the green series that Jaguar is good at. This Giora green is as advanced and elegant as Jaguar's racing green.
There is also the interior part. This collection version of F-TYPE also adopts Hermes orange, which is the first choice for high-end models in the past two years. Combining the unique green paint of Jaguar brand and the unique English gentleman style, at least for my 95-year-old who loves retro tonality, this F-TYPE is really much more attractive than Porsche 7 18.
Of course, the above views are only my personal views, because Porsche 7 18 is better than Jaguar F-TYPE at the same price in terms of brand, control, power, maintenance rate and sales volume. For example, the F-TYPE in the collector's edition, like the ordinary edition, is a 300-horsepower 2.0T engine +8AT gearbox+rear drive assembly, and the suspension is also a front and rear double wishbone structure.
However, in the sense of control, in fact, if F-TYPE is compared with 7 18, it can make you feel the gentleman's side, regardless of power output, gear shifting, chassis and steering feedback during driving, rather than pure sports attributes. However, such performance is not necessarily a prominent plus item for a sports car, including brands that Chinese people are more eager to buy cars. Jaguar and Porsche have different influences in our country.
Editor's comment:
If a friend or fan comes to me for advice on buying a car, for example, if you want to buy a sports car with a budget of 700,000 to 800,000, do you have any recommendations? Then my first recommendation must be Porsche 7 18, not Jaguar F-TYPE, because 7 18 can meet the needs and requirements of most consumers.
But if I have this ability, I will have a Jaguar F-Type 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition parked in my garage, because I can have a car that I like very much in the oil car era, and the last collector's edition should be very lucky for everyone who loves cars. After all, sometimes we are always willing to pay for what we love. At this time, it has nothing to do with cost performance. As long as we feel meaningful, it is worth having.
