Evergreen is a perennial herb of Liliaceae, native to China and Japan, also known as winter grass, iron pole, snake sword and so on. The rhizome is short and fleshy, and the plant height is about 50 ~ 60 cm. Leaves clustered on the rhizome, broad-band, leathery and full of waves. Floral axis drew it from the leaves, with a height of 10 ~ 20cm. Spikes are terminal and bloom at the turn of spring and summer. At first it was light green and white, and later it turned yellow or orange due to different varieties. Form spherical berries, and the red fruits and green leaves set each other off. Because the four seasons are evergreen and immortal, it is called evergreen and immortal in winter.
The main cultivated varieties of Evergreen are Evergreen with yellow leaves, Evergreen with white leaves and Evergreen with white leaves, which are often used as decorative exhibits in rooms, living rooms and conference platforms.
Evergreen Chinese medicine is called "white river car", which is cold in nature and bitter in taste. Has the effects of clearing away heat, stopping bleeding, relieving swelling and toxic materials, and strengthening heart and promoting diuresis. It can relieve arsenic or opium poisoning. Roots and leaves of Evergreen are commonly used as herbs in folk, and are taken orally to treat traumatic injuries and sore throat. External application is used to treat snake bite and mastitis.
