Huangmei County belongs to Huanggang City, Hubei Province. Huangmei County originated in the Han Dynasty, formerly known as Xunyang. Later, because there are Huangmei Mountain and Huangmei Water in the north of the county, it was named Huangmei. Huangmei County, with a total area of 170 1 km2, is located in the east of Hubei Province, on the north bank of the Yangtze River, and is known as the "gateway to eastern Hubei". Huangmei County is the birthplace of Zen, Huangmei Opera, the 15th Army of the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army and the national Longgan Lake Nature Reserve. It is also the hometown of martial arts, couplets, poems and flowers.

Huangmei county is high in the north and low in the south, showing a three-level slope. The mountains in the north belong to Dabie Mountain, with hills and ridges in the middle, lakes in the south, lakeside sedimentary plains and alluvial plains along the river in the south. Plains and lakes account for 78% of the county's total area.

Huangmei County has a subtropical monsoon climate, which is warm all year round, with annual precipitation 1270 mm and annual average temperature 16.8℃. The climate in the territory has obvious transitional characteristics, mainly characterized by obvious monsoon, mild climate, moderate rainfall, abundant sunshine, long frost-free period, distinct seasons, changeable temperature in spring, concentrated rain in summer, cool in autumn and long dry in winter.

Huangmei county has vast waters, numerous rivers, lakes and reservoirs, and dense ponds. There are 34 rivers, 29 lakes, 24 large, medium and small reservoirs, and the Yangtze River waterway is 59.2 kilometers. The county's available hydraulic resources have an installed capacity of 20,000 kilowatts.
