How to identify platinum?
platinum is similar in shape to silver. The identification method is as follows:

(1) Weight: Platinum has a high density, and its specific gravity is twice that of silver, so it can be identified by hand.

(2) Look at the color: the appearance of platinum is grayish white and the texture is hard; Silver is white in color and smooth and delicate in texture.

(3) chemical method: put some crumbs of platinum on the touchstone, and drop a little mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid. If the crumbs do not disappear, the sample is platinum; if the crumbs disappear, the sample is silver.

(4) fire method: the color of platinum remains unchanged after being cooled by fire, while the color of silver is red or black after being cooled by fire.

(5) Stamping method: Platinum ornaments are stamped with "Pt" or "Plat", while silver ornaments are marked with "S".

platinum content is calculated in thousandths, with pure platinum in Pt1 and 85% in Pt85.
