How to apply for halal certification

1. Halal food production and operation enterprises applying for certification should obtain local industrial and commercial business licenses, food production licenses and halal food production and operation related certificates.

2. Foreign companies applying for halal food certification should submit HALAL certification documents from the host country’s authoritative agency for review, negotiation, and approval.

3. The company’s name and trademark must not contain any content that is taboo for Muslims.

4. The person in charge or key management personnel of the enterprise should be Muslim.

5. The purchasing, storage and main production personnel should be Muslims.

6. Fill out the HALA certification application form.

Scope of halal certification

Halal certification is for the company’s products, not for the company.

Then, products that can be halal certified can be roughly divided into two categories:

1. Non-meat products:

Refers to products that are not related to meat. Any food raw materials, food ingredients, various additives, cosmetics, medicines, and even packaging and other edible and usable products can be halal certified, such as:

Starch, salt, coffee, tea, Pasta, beverages, candies, fungi, vegetables, extracts prepared from plants or microorganisms, spices, condiments, colorants, preservatives, food colorings, medicines derived from non-meat, and plastics and foams Packaging, chemical materials, etc.

2. Meat products:

Poultry slaughtered in halal slaughterhouses, such as cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, etc., processed products from halal meat, such as instant noodles, meatballs, Beef and sheep intestines, etc., products derived from halal meat, such as gelatin, cheese, emulsifiers, lactose, enzymes, pharmaceuticals, etc.

Products that cannot be halal certified include: carrion, animals that have died before slaughter, halal animals that are not slaughtered in accordance with Islamic law, blood, pork, dog meat, amphibians (frogs, crocodiles), and meat products animals and birds (tigers, lions, vultures), pests (rats, scorpions), animals prohibited by Islam (bees, woodpeckers), various poisonous and harmful aquatic animals and plants,

Beverages containing excessive amounts of alcohol, various forms of intoxicating and harmful beverages, various additives made from non-halal meat, etc.

Legal Basis

"Company Law of the People's Republic of China"

Article 7 A company established in accordance with the law shall be issued a business license by the company registration authority license. The date of issue of the company's business license is the date of establishment of the company.

The company's business license shall state the company's name, address, registered capital, business scope, name of the legal representative, and other matters.

If the matters recorded in the company's business license change, the company shall handle the change registration in accordance with the law, and the company registration authority shall renew the business license.
