WISCO is the first super-large steel complex built after the founding of New China. Construction started in 1955 and was completed and put into operation on September 13th, 1958. WISCO is an important state-owned backbone enterprise directly managed by the Central Committee and the State Council SASAC. Our factory is located in the eastern suburb of Wuhan, Hubei Province and the south bank of the Yangtze River, covering an area of 21.17 square kilometers. WISCO has a set of advanced steel production technology and equipment such as mining, coking, ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling and supporting public and auxiliary facilities, and is an important production base of high-quality plates in China. In the course of 5 years' construction and development, WISCO has made important contributions to China's national economy and modernization. By the end of 27, WISCO had produced 194 million tons of steel and realized 11.4 billion yuan of profits and taxes, of which 69.292 billion yuan was turned over to the state, which was 1.86 times of the 6.42 billion yuan invested by the state in WISCO. After the joint reorganization of WISCO, Egang, Liugang and Kungang, it has become a super-large enterprise group with a production scale of nearly 3 million tons.

WISCO has three main businesses, namely, ferrous metal mining, smelting and processing, steel trade and metallurgical engineering and technical services. Iron and steel products mainly include hot-rolled coil, hot-rolled section steel, hot-rolled heavy rail, medium plate, cold-rolled coil, galvanized sheet, tinned sheet, cold-rolled oriented and non-oriented silicon steel sheet, color-coated steel sheet, high-speed wire rod and other hundreds of varieties. Among them, cold-rolled oriented silicon steel and non-oriented silicon steel products won the title of "China famous brand products", WISCO ship plate won the title of "China famous brand products" and "WISCO brand" trademark won the title of "China well-known trademark". High-quality brand-name products such as bridge steel, pipeline steel, pressure vessel steel, container steel, cord steel, fire-resistant and weathering steel and electrical series steel produced by WISCO enjoy a wide reputation in domestic and foreign markets. In 27, WISCO became the first metallurgical enterprise with "National Silicon Steel Engineering Research Center". In addition, WISCO also produces coke, refractories, chemicals, powder metallurgy products, water slag, oxygen, rare gases and other products, and undertakes engineering construction, mechanical processing and automation technology development. The main business of WISCO has been successfully listed as a whole, and the reform of non-tradable shares has been completed, and the restructuring of auxiliary businesses is being actively promoted. In recent years, WISCO has successively won the honorary titles of National Technological Innovation Award, National Quality Management Award, National Advanced Enterprise with Quality and Efficiency, National Advanced Unit with Customer Satisfaction, National Outstanding Contribution Award for Enterprise Management and National Civilized Unit, and has been rated as A-level in the performance appraisal of central enterprises of the State Council State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission for three consecutive years.

At present, under the guidance of the spirit of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, WISCO is thoroughly implementing Scientific Outlook on Development, achieving sound and rapid development according to the national steel industry policy, building a world-class steel enterprise group with strong market competitiveness and regional market control, and becoming the main production base of cold-rolled silicon steel sheets, automobile plates and high-performance engineering structural steel in China. At the end of the 11th Five-Year Plan, we will strive to achieve three goals, enter the world's top 5, enter the world's top 1 steel industry in terms of comprehensive competitiveness, and rank among the top 3 steel enterprises in China in terms of scale benefits.
