Bergamot is a traditional planting industry in Wulong town, with a planting history of more than 200 years.
In May, 2000, Guangdong Provincial People's Government approved this town as a "one town, one product" town with Guangzhou bergamot production and processing as the project. In June, it signed a scientific and technological cooperation agreement with Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine to jointly develop and study Guangzhou bergamot and establish a national demonstration base for modernization and industrialization of traditional Chinese medicine. At the same time, the bergamot planting in this town has passed the GAP standard acceptance of Chinese herbal medicines of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and successfully registered the trademark of "Oolong Brand" bergamot, covering an area of more than 7,000 mu. Cinnamon is also the main industry in this town, with a planting area of over 654.38+10,000 mu. By cooperating with Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine to implement key scientific research projects, it was recognized by GAP standard of Cinnamon.
While doing a good job in planting, the town has vigorously developed the aquaculture industry with Jinfushan chickens and Pingshan geese as the main products, with an annual output of 600,000 Jinfushan chickens and 200,000 Pingshan geese. Formed three characteristic color breeding corridors of cinnamon, bergamot and Jinfo Mountain chicken. At this point, a new agricultural city with bergamot cinnamon cultivation as the leading industry and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and other universities as the scientific and technological support is emerging.
