In this article, the final result of UseSupportPricingDesignhill is ServiceSE winning, CaveatFaq
99Design is a famous graphic design platform and its website is beautiful, but does this mean that it is hosting logo design? The best place to compete? uncertain. Designhill may not look as glamorous, but it's more affordable.
Can you really buy high-quality trademarks at a lower price? I decided to run a design competition on both platforms to find out. This was actually part of a bigger project on Website Planet, where I (a total nerd and a designer half my life) tried out all the major logo design services to find the best new logo for our website. View the results here.
I have of course reviewed 99designs and Designhill separately, but now we have a good old fashioned showdown here. Read on to see the logos I got from each site and find out which platform is best for you. Here’s the end result: When I ran a logo design contest on 99designs and Designhill, this was the result. Obviously, the main question is: how good of a logo can you get from these services?
Well, the results vary when you use a service that allows thousands of designers to work on your project. They will be very different. You will have to search through dozens to hundreds of possible logo designs and decide on one that is right for you.
My situation was this: I got a great logo out of 99 designs
I received over 40 design submissions and was able to narrow them down easily range. At this point, I had a lot of planet-based logos ready for our competition, so I wrote a more general design brief to see what other ideas would be submitted. I then chose a planet-based logo because that was the best I could find. I particularly like using pastel colors. ?GET LOGO SUPPORT AT 99DESIGNS 99DESIGNS offers better mobile support, but Designhill offers live chat
When I look at the LOGOdesign service, I try to interact with the support team at least three times. It’s best to do this through different channels such as email, phone, and chat. Now I'm an introvert, and like many Millennials, I hate talking to people on the phone like an ant hates talking to an anteater? So, you know, I'm doing this for you. I do this for all of us. I am a hero. Well, I was just doing my job, but still. Here’s how the two platforms compare in terms of support: They both have email/ticket systems and phone support lines. But? 99designs has better cell phone support
If you really like talking to people on the phone, 99designs may have a phone line just for you. Their hours appear to be limited to local hours for the area you call, but they have many areas you can call. There is a telephone line for each of the following countries: Argentina 3 Australia 3 Australia 3 Brazil 3 Colombia 3 Denmark 3 France 3 Germany 3 Hong Kong 3 Ireland 3 Italy 3 Japan 3 Mexico 3 Netherlands 3 Portugal 3 Singapore 3 Spain 3 Westland 3 United Kingdom 3 USA 3 Even if you don’t see your country on this list, the support line covers most major languages. Designhill offers live chat
If you don't want to make a phone call but still want a near-instant response, Designhill offers 24/7 live chat. There's not much to say about this except that it worked fine for me and the people who responded were helpful. I personally prefer the chat system because I get quick responses with less social anxiety and I can do other things while waiting for them to respond.
Pricing Designhill is cheaper, but not by much
Everyone has a budget, here's where you might make your final decision. Designhill is slightly cheaper
Designhill is cheaper, but not by much. For example, you can get more information in your pricing plan, such as the number of expected design submissions. This is of course important.
However, when you use additional services, such as private contests and access to top designers, your costs can escalate quickly. So, the Designhill may be "cheaper" at face value, but it's not "cheaper." As you might have guessed, the 99 Design isn't quite as cheap, the difference is in the range of a few hundred dollars. Now, for a person on a budget, this sounds like a lot, and it probably is. But if you have the money to spend, the extra $100 may be worth a smoother experience.
Additionally, the more expensive 99 Design plan comes with a dedicated project manager to help you get the logo you want with minimal effort. This is something worth considering. Designhill wins, with one caveat: Of all the DIFM (Do It For Me) design services I've tried, I liked 99 the design the best. If you have the budget and don't need anything other than the actual design files, the ease of use is worth it. But if you have the budget, or if you want to do design competitions and printing in one place, Designhill is better suited for that. Despite some minor flaws with the user interface, I recommend this service based on the comments I received during my trial.
No matter which platform you choose, it’s up to you to choose the right logo from all submissions.
