Xintianyou is an intangible cultural heritage.

Xintianyou belongs to northern Shaanxi folk songs, and northern Shaanxi folk songs are intangible cultural heritage. Northern Shaanxi folk songs are traditional folk songs in northern Shaanxi. They are divided into three categories: labor chants, Xintianyou, and minor tunes. Labor chants include banging songs, banging songs, quarrying songs, cow-calling songs, and playing field songs. Xintianyou is divided into high-pitched and flat-pitched tunes. These traditional folk songs with their own genres and characteristics reflect social life in all aspects and sing the joys, sorrows, loves and hates of the people in northern Shaanxi.

Characteristics of Xintianyou

1. Reflection of life

Northern Shaanxi folk songs are the crystallization of the spirit, thoughts and emotions of the working people in northern Shaanxi throughout the ages. The closest companion is the most direct reflection of the lives of the working people in northern Shaanxi. Northern Shaanxi is a place where folk songs gather. There are many types of folk songs, which are commonly known locally as "mountain songs" or "sour songs". There are mainly more than 20 kinds of Xintianyou, minor tunes, drinking songs, and Yulin ditties, among which Xintianyou is the most distinctive and representative.

2. Formal Rhythm

Xintianyou's libretto is generally in two-sentence form. The first sentence is an uproar, and the second sentence is a punctuation. It is basically an improvisation. These colloquial poems are strikingly eloquent, vivid and have strong artistic appeal. Its content mainly reflects love, marriage, resistance to oppression and the fight for freedom.
