Taian is located at the southern foot of Mount Tai in the middle of Shandong Province (116 20 ˊ ~17 59 ˊ, 35 38 ˊ ~ 36 28 ˊ), bordering Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, in the north and Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, the founder of Confucian culture, in the south. It covers an area of 7,762 square kilometers, with a total area of 7,762 square kilometers and a population of 5.386 million. It has jurisdiction over six counties and cities: Taishan District, Daiyue District, xintai city, Feicheng City, Ningyang County and Dongping County.

Characteristic flowers and trees
The city flower of Tai 'an is Lagerstroemia indica, also known as Centurium, which belongs to Euphorbiaceae and is a deciduous shrub or small tree.
