It is located in the northernmost part of Tianjin City, bordering Zunhua City and Yutian County to the east, and Sanhe, Hebei Province to the west. The city is bounded by Baodi District of Tianjin City to the south, Xinglong County of Hebei Province and Pinggu District of Beijing City to the north, with a total area of ??1,590.22 square kilometers. Jizhou District was known as Wuzhong, Yuyang and Jizhou in ancient times. According to "Taiping Huanyu Ji": In the 18th year of Kaiyuan, the three counties of Youzhou were divided into Yuyang County, Sanhe County and Yutian County and were established in Jizhou. The ancient Jimen Pass was named after the state. In the Qin Dynasty, Wuzhong County was established and belonged to Youbeiping County. In the Tang Dynasty, Yuyang County was transferred to Wuzhong County (Yutian). In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Jizhou was renamed Jixian and belonged to Shuntian Prefecture. In 1973, it was placed under Tianjin City. In 2016, Ji County was abolished and Jizhou District was established.
