Erguotou is originally just a brewing method, and anyone who uses this method can be considered authentic.

1. Generally, the two major brands in the market are Niulanshan and Red Star. To be honest, it's okay.

2. From the brand point of view, Niulanshan is a place name in Beijing. It has also been a place for brewing wine since ancient times. The 300-year history should be well-documented. Red Star's advertisements always boast about 800 years of heritage, but looking at its trademark, you know that the factory must have been built after 1949 (which is true). Red Star and Niulanshan, which cost around 10 yuan, are basically popular wines for Beijing people.

3. Bring back the most distinctive features of the two brands and you will have no regrets. For the Red Star ones, buy the one packaged in the green bottle upstairs, but it’s best to buy the 65-degree one. If you don’t have it, just buy this one. The one I bought in Niulanshan is commonly known as Bainiuer, which is the one with a green label in a transparent bottle.

4. Don’t buy these two brands of mid-to-high-end wine. They are all made from puree purchased from wineries in other provinces and blended. Beijing’s water can no longer produce high-end wine. Furthermore, Erguotou is famous because it is the popular liquor of the public, which is not the same as Moutai Wuliangye.
