History[edit] Ogori Shoji, who operated a men's clothing store "Men's Shop OS" (メンズショップOS) in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan in May 1963, renamed UNIQLO in April 1992, 1984 In June 2006, a comprehensive clothing store "Unique Clothing Warehouse" was opened in Fukurocho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City. It was originally referred to as the English abbreviation "UNI-CLO". In March 1988, when Yuning Garment Factory Co., Ltd., a commodity purchasing company, was established in Hong Kong with local businessmen, the person who registered the business name mistakenly filled in "C" instead of "Q" as the business registration name. After that, President Yanai Masaru made the mistake and added the Japanese name. All store names have been changed to use "UNI-QLO" as a trademark. In September 1991, the name of the parent company was changed to Fast Retailing (ファーストリテイリング, Fast Retailing). In the early days of its business, UNIQLO opened a number of large-scale stores in Japan. The exteriors were American warehouse-style buildings. Movie posters and pictures of celebrities were displayed inside as decorations. Low-priced clothing produced by Chinese factories was the main product. In 1997, UNIQLO referred to the business strategy of the American retail group GAP and began to design and exclusively sell its own ready-to-wear products. The goal was to provide low-price, high-quality products, and invited advertising companies to promote the brand. This brand image transformation It was a success, with sales reaching its peak in August 2001 and taking advantage of the situation to enter the British market.
