Currency in circulation:

The currency in circulation in Poland is the Polish zloty (Zl)*, 1 zloty = 100 grohi.

The currencies of zloty banknotes are 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10 respectively, and the currencies of new coins are 5, 2 and 1 zloty, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 respectively.

Credit cards and debit cards, such as American Express, Diners Credit Card, MasterCard and Visa, are widely accepted in large department stores.

Foreign currency exchange:

Foreign currency can be exchanged at border checkpoints, hotels and foreign currency exchange points. Some exchange points also provide 24-hour service. You can withdraw cash from the bank with a visa card.

Generally speaking, the exchange rate when changing money in banks and hotels is not very good. Banks charge a uniform fee every time they change money, but if you change money in private banks (especially railway stations), you will be surprised to find that their exchange rate is very good, and private banks do not charge fees. In addition to the mainstream currency, you can also exchange several non-mainstream currencies (such as Czech, Slovak and Hungarian currencies). But be careful when changing money in tourist attractions, such as the old town of Warsaw. They will charge too much.

Although traveler's checks are safer than carrying cash, they are generally inconvenient because only a few big banks, Orbis offices and hotels can accept them, but private banks can't. One feasible way is to use American Express, because they have an office in Warsaw, so many banks can cash American Express traveler's checks. In order to avoid deducting extra expenses, the currency of traveler's checks should be pound sterling.

The banking hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 am to 1:00 on Saturday (major cities). In some small towns, there are more restrictions on the opening hours of banks.

ATMs are widely used in all parts of Poland. ATMs can be found in the main places of any town with a certain scale, such as squares, hotels, banks and even McDonald's fast food restaurants. So now, when you arrive in Poland, you can withdraw money from the ATM with a plastic card and a password.

Currency limit:

It is forbidden to bring local currency into and out of the customs. However, there is no restriction on bringing foreign currency into the country, but it needs to be declared to the customs before entering the country. The amount of foreign currency carried when leaving the country is limited to the amount declared when entering the country.

Languages in Poland:

The official language of Poland is Polish, but English, German and Russian are also widely used, especially in big cities.

Customs regulations:

Articles containing works of art and of certain historical or cultural value must meet special regulations. According to the law, it is forbidden to export historical relics. Art or cultural relics carried by individuals need the permission of the cultural and artistic department. All cultural and artistic works before 1945 need similar permission to be brought out.
