If you want to take a self-driving trip to Iceland, you must check this out. This guide mainly talks about what you need to pay attention to when going to Iceland to refuel, as well as credit card refueling, parking locations and other matters. These are understandable.
Current Location There are several chain gas stations in Iceland, the most popular of which is N1 gas station. The gasoline in Iceland is divided into 92 No. regular unleaded gasoline, 98 No. premium leaded gasoline and 95 No. premium unleaded gasoline.
If you refuel in Iceland, you can add the specified fuel according to the tank cap or vehicle instructions. If you are not sure what grade of oil to fill, you can ask the store staff when you pick up the car.
Be careful not to add the wrong oil. If so, please contact the store as soon as possible to clean the fuel tank and oil system, and then conduct a comprehensive inspection of the engine. Do not start it hastily to avoid damaging the car.
Notes on self-driving refueling in Iceland
Except in big cities such as Reykjavik, most gas stations provide self-service refueling. Self-service can be divided into three forms of payment: direct card swiping, purchasing a gas card and paying at the store counter with a credit card or cash.
Credit card refueling:
Insert the credit card, enter the PIN code (the so-called withdrawal password, which must be applied in advance at the card-issuing bank in China) -, enter the refueling amount -, take out the credit card - —, pick up the oil gun, start refueling 354, and put the oil gun back to its original position. The dispenser automatically prints a receipt.
Gas card to refuel:
If your credit card does not work, you can buy a gas card in the supermarket. There are three types of gas cards: 2,000, 5,000, and 10,000 ISK. After you buy a fuel card, you can directly insert it into the machine to refuel.
Pay with credit card or cash at the counter:
There are usually convenience stores next to gas stations. Just go in and tell the clerk what size oil gun you have, fill it up, and then pay. It should be noted that generally gas station stores in suburban areas do not open very late, and some do not even have stores dedicated to gas pumps, so you need to refuel in advance.
Manual service for refueling
In big cities, there are usually special services to refuel. Because they include waiters, the price of gas is slightly more expensive. The service refueling process is similar to that in China. You can explain the oil and the amount to be added to the staff.
How to refuel yourself
In Iceland, except in big cities, parking is mostly free, which is very convenient.
In Reykjavik and other large cities, most parking spaces on city roads are charged. There are four main parking areas in Reykjavik, p1~p4, and the numbers represent the lots. Almost all parking lots closer to the city center are P1, and parking fees are relatively expensive. As shown in the figure below:
P1 (red zone - 250 ISK per hour)
P2 (ISK blue zone - 120 pounds per hour)
P3 (green zone - 20 ISK per hour after 80 for the first two hours) Monday to Friday 09:00-18:00, Saturday 10:00-16:00, the rest of the time is free.
P4 (orange zone - 120 ISK per hour) is charged from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00, and free during the rest of the time.
This is a general rule, please refer to the parking lot sign information. As shown in the picture below, p2 parking lot is charged from 09:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Friday, and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday. It is free during the rest of the time.
It is recommended to pay attention to whether there are toll signs or toll machines around you when parking. You can also check whether there are parking receipts under the windshields of parked vehicles around you to determine whether it is a paid parking lot.
