Bank of China started issuing credit cards from 1979, and Bank of China was indeed the first bank in China to issue credit cards. The history of credit card development in China is closely related to the history of credit card business in China Bank.

1979 10, Guangdong Branch of Bank of China signed an agreement with Bank of East Asia to handle the "Dongmei VISA Credit Card" on its behalf to handle the cash withdrawal business of Dongmei Card. Since then, credit cards have appeared in China.
