Tianjin is located between 116°43' to 118°04' east longitude and 38°34' to 40°15' north latitude. The city center is located at 117°10' east longitude and 39°10' north latitude. It is located in the northern part of the North China Plain, bordering the Bohai Sea in the east and Yanshan Mountain in the north.
Tianjin is located in the lower reaches of the Haihe River, spanning both banks of the Haihe River. It is the transportation chokepoint for the railways from Beijing to Northeast and East China and a port for ocean shipping. It is known as the "river-sea hub" and the "Gateway to Jifu". It is 189 kilometers long from north to south and 117 kilometers wide from west to east. The land boundary is 1,137 kilometers long and the coastline is 153 kilometers long. Internally, it has a vast hinterland, radiating to 13 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in North China, Northeast China, and Northwest China. Externally, it faces Northeast Asia. It is the largest open coastal city in northern China.

Guangzong County is located at 37°29′ - 36°8′ north latitude and 115°28′ - 115°1′ east longitude. The territory is 50.9 kilometers long from north to south and 17.3 kilometers wide from east to west. The county area is 503 square kilometers. It borders Nangong to the north, Wangqiu County to the south, Wei County to the east, Pingxiang to the west, and Julu to the northwest.
