How to prevent credit cards from being stolen?
Credit card security

Today we will talk about the security of overseas credit cards.

Brush your credit card overseas, most afraid that it will be stolen. Travel abroad once, and it will be stolen when you return home. I don't think anyone wants to share it.

Unfortunately, however, according to incomplete statistics, more than 80% of bank cards were stolen abroad.

Why? How to prevent it? Let's talk about how the credit card was stolen:

First of all, all stolen magnetic stripe cards are copied, because magnetic stripe cards are easy to copy. Some unscrupulous merchants install replicators on credit cards of POS machines. As long as you swipe your card, the magnetic stripe information will be copied automatically.

What is even more frightening is that VISA, MasterCard and other international channels do not need a password to swipe their cards overseas, just sign. As for our UnionPay channel, there are two trading methods abroad, one is password+signature, which is the same as that in China;

In addition, UnionPay also provides signature-only transactions, so overseas, some UnionPay POS can pay successfully even if you enter the wrong password, which is the reason. So others can copy your clone card and steal it directly. So how do we prevent it?

First of all, always be vigilant, don't let the credit card leave your sight, and don't let the other party copy or swipe the card on other pos. Especially in Thailand and Malaysia, where brush theft is high, you should be more careful. Secondly, the chip card can fundamentally eliminate the possibility of stealing brushes.

The principle of chip card is that every time a card is swiped, a dynamic array will be generated in the chip, which can only be passed after matching, so that the possibility of card theft can be fundamentally eliminated. I think many friends will say, I know this. Now UnionPay cards basically have chips, so I will trade with chips.

Unfortunately, however, when swiping UnionPay cards overseas, the chip can't be used, and only the magnetic stripe can be swiped.

The reason is that the format of UnionPay chip card is different from the international standard. Therefore, from a security point of view, it is best to brush the chip card of VISA or MasterCard. Especially in Southeast Asia, the theft rate is extremely high. Even if some small merchants support UnionPay, it is best to pay with chip cards.

What if my brush is stolen?

Finally, let's talk about it. What should I do if my credit card is really stolen?

To put it simply, it is three steps, trying to intercept, collect evidence and call the police: First, after discovering that the card has been stolen, you must contact the bank customer service as soon as possible to inform the bank that the card has been stolen and freeze the quota. Let the bank check whether the funds have been cleared from the issuing bank. There is a time difference in channel clearing of international card organizations such as VISA and MasterCard. So it can be intercepted in time. Then, remember to write down the date, time and employee number of the customer service staff.

. Secondly, don't panic if the interception is unsuccessful. Next, you need to collect evidence, specifically, that you have a credit card at this moment and you are not in the place where the theft happened.

For example, you can turn on the location function of your mobile phone and take a photo of yourself and the card. If you have friends or family around you, try to take a group photo together. If conditions permit, it is best to bring the time map of live TV broadcast.

Why are you so careful! Because our customers are supposed to be innocent victims.

However, in the current situation of stolen credit cards, domestic banks often play hooligans and let you prove it yourself. If you don't have convincing evidence, you have to share the responsibility with the bank.

In that case, the bank will only compensate you for part of the loss, and you will have to post the rest yourself. Therefore, it is really important to collect evidence! Very important! It's all done. Go to the police.

Call 1 10 in China, and then report to the nearest police station. If you are abroad, report it locally, because if you report it back to China, you can't file a case. Remember. There is also the need to record the alarm time, the employee number of the police station recorder, and the receipt of the report or record.

. Finally, wait for the bank to reply. If the bank is unwilling to do follow-up treatment or is very inactive, it can seek legal solutions.

Let's sum up today's lesson, that is, if your credit card is stolen, you should call the bank at the first time to see if you can intercept it and then collect enough evidence.

Call the police and try to recover the loss. The credit card project ends here.

Thank you all.
