The main research fields of this major are: information management and integration, real-time signal processing and application, DSP application, image transmission and processing, optical fiber sensing and weak signal detection, special signal processing of power system, etc. It has also carried out research in the fields of FPGA application, public information management and security, infrared thermal imaging temperature measurement of power equipment, and formed the research characteristics of this discipline, striving to reach the domestic leading level in some disciplines. In addition to the above-mentioned main fields, we have also carried out research work on scene-based speech signal processing, fingerprint recognition technology, image recognition and so on, and have achieved certain results.

During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, this major will focus on the research and application of new technologies such as voice, image processing and real-time signal processing, apply scientific theories such as electronics, signal processing and computer software to power systems, and develop innovative theories in signal and information processing. Further introduce and cultivate outstanding young talents with international standards, and make the discipline a leading discipline in China.

There are 9 research directions in this major. The main research directions are as follows:

(1) Real-time signal and information processing main research contents: embedded operating system analysis, DSP development and design, signal control technology. The technologies of signal acquisition, compression, coding, transmission, interaction and control, streaming media technology and multi-person cooperative work mode are studied to realize real-time interaction and cooperative work of video, audio, text and other information on DSP and Internet.

(2) Speech and image processing This research direction is mainly responsible for researching and exploring the cutting-edge technologies and their applications in the field of digital speech and image processing. The research contents include: time-frequency analysis and algorithm of speech, sound field analysis and target tracking, dynamic range (HDR) image processing technology and algorithm, and application of image acceleration hardware (GPU).

(3) Modern sensing and measurement technology This research direction pays equal attention to both theoretical research and applied research: in theory, it mainly carries out basic research, discovers new phenomena, and develops new materials and technologies for sensors; In application, combined with the application requirements of power system, various sensing detection systems have been developed.

(4) Information System and Information Security The core problem of information security in modern information system is cryptography theory and its application, and its foundation is the construction and evaluation of trusted information system. This direction mainly studies the scientific theories and key technologies related to information security in communication and information systems, including cryptography theory and technology, security protocol theory and technology, security architecture theory and technology, information hiding theory and technology, information countermeasure theory and technology, network and information system security research, etc.

(5) Intelligent information processing mainly applies the theories, technologies and methods of modern intelligent information processing to the design and implementation of various computer information processing systems. To train technical talents for enterprises to master modern intelligent information processing theories, technologies and methods, and to research and develop various intelligent information processing systems. Its main research contents include: digital image processing, video information detection, analysis, transmission, storage, compression, reconstruction, pattern recognition and collaborative information processing; Visual computing and machine vision, intelligent speech processing and understanding, intelligent text classification and information retrieval, intelligent information hiding and recognition.

(6) Information power is a new frontier discipline of information science and power system, and its research contents include: digital power system, power communication technology and regulations, computer software and network, power production and operation management, information technology and its application in power industry.

(7) Modern electronic system The research direction of modern electronic system mainly studies the design methods of hardware and software design in information appliances, communications, computers and other related fields. By using the most popular electronic system design tools, such as embedded system, programmable logic device and DSP system.

(8) Research on embedded system and intelligent control The application of single chip microcomputer, programmable controller (PLC), DSP and ARM in intelligent measuring instruments, traffic management, information appliances, home intelligent management system, communication and information processing.

(9) Pattern recognition and artificial intelligence This direction mainly studies new theories and methods of pattern recognition and artificial intelligence, focusing on the application of these theories and technologies in practical systems, especially in power systems, and solving key technical problems in application, including intelligent signal processing, image-based non-image target recognition, artificial network, fuzzy information processing, statistical signal processing, multi-sensor information fusion and ultra-high-speed multi-channel signal acquisition and real-time processing technology.
