Why should generators use non-oriented silicon steel?
The motor works in the running state, and the iron core consists of a stator and a rotor laminated by toothed circular punching sheets, which requires the electrical steel plate to have magnetic isotropy, so non-oriented cold-rolled electrical steel or hot-rolled silicon steel is used.

The transformer works in static state. The iron cores of large and medium-sized transformers are stacked in strips, and some distribution transformers, current-voltage transformers and pulse transformers use wound iron cores, which can ensure blanking and magnetization along the rolling direction of electrical steel plates, so cold-rolled oriented silicon steel is used.
