Front-drive Nissan-Minsheng trucks appeared in the 1960s. In 1962, Nissan developed a new 4-stroke diesel engine, while the 2-stroke diesel engine was still used until 1970. After 1970, Nissan began exporting trucks to Australia and New Zealand , called NISSAN-UD. In 1993, Nissan released the Imperial CW-8 4-55 ton truck.
HINO [Japan]
Hino trucks can be traced back to Tokyo, which was founded in 1910 Gas Industry Group, whose engine distribution subsidiary began truck manufacturing in 1917. In 1942, Hino Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. was established, and the first 15-ton truck rolled off the assembly line in 1946. Starting in 1948, Hino began to expand its truck business to include 6x6 dump trucks for construction. In 1958, Japan's first front-double steering axle 6x6 truck came out. After 1960, Hino began manufacturing front-wheel drive and tilt-wheel trucks, and was later acquired by Toyota. In 1972, the Hino HE front-wheel drive 40-ton tractor rolled off the assembly line.
Hino has factories in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and other places, and exports Hino brand large and medium-sized trucks to the world. In the 1980s, Hino was the world's second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer after DaimlerChrysler, but later it was gradually cannibalized and absorbed by PACCAR, VOLVO, NAVISTAR, etc. In 1992, Hino released the latest Super Dolphin PROFIA truck, with luxurious configuration and excellent safety performance. ISUZU [Japan]
The predecessor of Isuzu Trucks, Ishikawajima Marine Machinery Co., Ltd. began assembling the British Wesley A9 series of trucks as early as 1922, most of which were military-type. The assembly agreement between Ishikawajima and Wesley ceased in 1927, and in 1934 Isuzu began a diesel engine research project. Isuzu Engine Co., Ltd. was established in 1949. In 1971, General Motors purchased 35% of Isuzu's shares and also brought the SBR and JBR 9-ton and 12-ton models. During this period, General Motors helped Isuzu enter the Australian and New Zealand markets. In 1980, Isuzu released the new 10PB1 diesel engine. From the late 1980s to the 1990s, Isuzu gradually established a foothold in the world commercial vehicle market and enjoyed huge export trade profits. The EXR and EXZ produced in the late 1990s have become best-sellers, and the latest Gigabyte models are also very powerful. In Europe, British Leyland and ERF assemble Isuzu medium-duty trucks.
HYUNDAI [South Korea]
Hyundai Engine Company was established in 1967 and entered the truck industry in 1978. Most of the technology was imported from the United Kingdom, and the initial production was a 7-ton medium-duty truck using a Belkin engine. From the late 1980s to the 1990s, Hyundai began to adopt Japanese technology on a large scale. From 1×2 medium-sized trucks to 6×4 and even 8×4 tractors, Japan was present in all of them. Bailing trucks based on Hyundai trucks have recently been put on the market in the United States. What is more common in China is the modern concrete mixer truck head.
DAEWOO [South Korea]
Daewoo Heavy Industries is considered a pupil in the truck industry. In 1994, Daewoo's Jeonsan plant began to produce trucks. The annual output has reached 2,000 units. So far, the total output has exceeded Ten thousand. Daewoo trucks have a modern body, four-wheel and six-wheel vehicles and tractors. Daewoo claims to be the only RV-type truck in South Korea, and has always insisted on completely independent development without introducing technology. Daewoo Trucks is now adopting a very ambitious market strategy and has established multiple overseas assembly production lines in countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Vietnam and the Philippines.
