Education: 1969 Bachelor degree in English from Sichuan International Studies University; 198 1 graduated from Sichuan university with a master's degree in English.

Academic part-time job and main academic activities: director of the National American Literature Research Association, director of the Narratology Branch of the Chinese and Foreign Literary Theory Society, and member of the American Modern Chinese Society (MLA). He has been sponsored by many famous foundations, including Fulbright Foundation and Harvard-Yanjing Foundation, and engaged in academic exchanges and research in famous foreign universities: 1988- 1989 Fulbright scholar at the University of Chicago, USA; 1993 and 1998 were invited to attend the Stuttgart Cultural Seminar hosted by the University of Stuttgart, Germany; 1998 Senior Visiting Scholar of the University of Hong Kong and the University of Virginia; 1999-2000 Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, USA; In 2004, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Hong Kong.

Awards: The Mystery of Women won the third prize of 200 1 Sichuan Provincial Government for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences. Contemporary American Fiction Theory won the third prize of outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences of Sichuan provincial government in 2003.
